Planning a conference in Istanbul, from venue to visa

The short answer to "can Istanbul host my event" is yes for almost any format under 4,000 seated delegates in one room, and yes with a split-plenary design above that. Congresses of 500 to 2,000 people usually land at the Istanbul Congress Center or Lutfi Kirdar ICEC, which stand five minutes apart in Harbiye. Trade shows go to the Yesilkoy fairgrounds. Corporate meetings under 500 people often skip the congress centers entirely and book a conference hotel with its own ballroom.

First, venue class. A purpose-built congress center rents by hall and day; a hotel bundles meeting space with food, beverage and a room block. For events under 500 people the hotel bundle is usually simpler to price. Above that, congress center rental plus external catering tends to win on flexibility.

Second, dates. Spring and autumn are the strong congress seasons, and citywide demand peaks in May and October. Public and religious holidays shift supplier availability, so check the season calendar before you shortlist dates.
